Winter is synonym for cold and flu. This year’s weather condition has confirmed it for sure. We love winter for its warm furry fashion, the scrumptious ‘fresh from the oven’ cuisine’ but we hate it all the most for causing never ending cold and flu. While some rely on stew, and lemon grass tea or kaava to prevent cold and flu, others stack up their drawers with medicines too. Let’s hear it from our friends, who’ve managed to keep cold and flu at bay.
Flu and cold can be best restricted by proper nutritious diet which keeps the immunity levels high. Sleep helps in overall restoration of health and to rejuvenate the body by itself. 6-8 hours of undisturbed sleep is essential for all, more so if the system is compromised due to flu.
Cold and flu are my biggest enemies. I do my best to save myself from it. The best practice for me is to keep the forehead covered, including, ear and nose. I always drink warm water. No cold drinks etc. I need total relaxation during sickness; be it cold or flu, or both. It’s irritating and adds unnecessary stress. Comfortable sleep really helps. Along a soft blanket to cover, I need a good pillow and mattress. Adequate sleep helps rejuvenate and refresh.
I have a family secret remedy to help relieve congested nasal passages. However, it’s hard to sleep when you have congestion. In that case, an extra pillow or a pillow that support your head and body accordingly is best. It helps relieve congested nasal passage. Otherwise during the day, cup of hot herbal tea is must.
